On 11 October, Axis Technologies signed the construction contract with Panevėžio Energija AB for reconstruction of the boiler facility of the power station in Panevėžys. Under the contract, the company will install an 8 MW biofuel-fired water heating boiler and a 1.8 MW condensing economiser with auxiliary equipment. The total value of the contract amounts to EUR 3.3 mln. It is expected to complete the project before the end of next year.

The cooperation between the companies started in back in 2000 when Axis Technologies was tasked with reconstruction of the steam boiler of Rokiškio Šilumos Tinklai, a branch of Panevėžio Energija, adapting it for biofuel combustion. Axis Technologies also provided its services at the client’s facilities in Zarasai, Panevėžys, Noriūnai and Akademija town in Kėdainiai District.

This time, the Panevėžys heat production and supply company seeking to increase consumption from renewable energy sources and reduce heat prices for the end users, decided to install the biofuel combustion equipment in the main boiler plant of Panevėžys.

According to Remigijus Labunskas, the Sales Manager at Axis Technologies, the quality of the previously completed projects, company’s experience in the biofuel area, quick response during the warranty and post-warranty periods, as well as the optimally selected equipment are the core reasons that allowed it to win this procurement organised by Panevėžio Energija.

Panevėžio Energija is a regional heat production and supply company in Lithuania. It operates in Panevėžys, Kėdainiai, Rokiškis, Zarasai, Kupiškis, Pasvalys and their districts. In the past years, the boiler plants in Rokiškis, Zarasai and Panevėžys have been reconstructed by installing technological equipment and integrating new boilers. Since 2010, the consumption of biofuel at the boiler plants of Panevėžio Energija AB has grown by three-fold, and now comprises more than 60 per cent of the total fuel consumption.
