The use of renewable energy sources, such as solar energy, wind energy, hydropower and biomass energy is growing around the world. The use of renewable energy sources provides the opportunity to gain energy independence, feel security and mitigate dangerous climate change as a result of greenhouse gas emissions.

Biogas is considered to be probably one of the most effective sources of renewable energy as it originates from the anaerobic digestion (oxygen-free environment) of organic waste and raw materials.

Waste arising from livestock, poultry and agriculture is the main raw material for biogas production. Raw materials also include urban municipal waste, sludge of municipal sewage treatment plants and waste from food processing plants.

Biodegradable waste is transported by conveyors and pumps to the bioreactor to produce biogas. Electric and/or thermal energy is produced during gas combustion process in the internal combustion engine. This energy can be used for the needs of business companies, farms and personal purposes or supplied to electric or thermal networks. Gas converted into biomethane through the process of purification can be used as fuel for transport or supplied to natural gas grid. The processed biomass can also serve as high-quality fertilizer.

The treatment of livestock and poultry manure in the bioreactor makes nitrogen in organic compounds turn to ammonia, which is easily absorbed by plants.

According to Danish scientists, the amount of ammoniacal nitrogen in degassed biomass increases by 10-15 percent. Weed seeds in manure are also partially destroyed and seed germination is reduced during the anaerobic process.

Thus, degassed biomass being a liquid organic fertilizer of high quality helps to improve soil structure and is perfectly suited for plant fertilization.
